Meet the fishermen of Mallorca – Two exclusive excursions to experience a day in the life of a fisherman
Mallorca is not only discovered through its beaches: it is also experienced from the sea, alongside those who know it better than anyone. With these two “fisherman for a day” experiences, embark on a unique journey immersed with professional fishermen, true guardians of a know-how passed down through generations.
1. Bruno and Gori – The soul of Sóller aboard the Josep Paraguay Nou
From the port of Andratx, set course for Sóller with Bruno and Gori, two brothers who grew up among nets and sea spray, carrying on a family tradition rooted in Catalonia and established in Mallorca since their grandfather’s time. Aboard the Josep Paraguay Nou, a modern 24-meter boat equipped with a terrace, kitchen, dining room, bathroom, and six berths, enjoy a real day of fishing at sea in a warm and intimate atmosphere (maximum 4 people).
During this 4 to 12-hour trip (Monday to Friday in July and August), you will share the fishermen’s daily routine, observe their meticulous work with nets, and take part in some non-dangerous tasks. In summer, a swimming or snorkeling break may be offered. To top it all off, Bruno will cook a delicious arroz a banda using the catch of the day (prawns, hake, monkfish…), included in the price.
Online booking is required at least 48 hours in advance.
This excursion is not a fishing charter. It is not about rod fishing, but about discovering traditional net fishing alongside real professionals.
2. Jaume and Antonio Llitra – The tradition of Alcúdia aboard the Nou Capdepera
If you are in the Alcúdia area, another equally authentic experience awaits aboard the Nou Capdepera, a 16-meter boat equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, and four comfortable cabins. Every weekday in July and August, join Jaume and Antonio Llitra, fishermen with over 25 years of experience, who will passionately share their craft and the secrets of the sea.
During the trip, you will observe traditional net fishing and attend a demonstration led by seasoned sailors. Once again, you won’t fish with a rod, but instead take part in a genuine human and maritime adventure. Late in the morning, Antonio will prepare an authentic arroz marinero using the catch of the day: red mullet, hake, small flat fish, or squid – a delicious moment included in the price.
The trip is limited to a small group in a friendly atmosphere, with a crew also able to welcome you in English.
Online booking is required at least 48 hours before departure.
Two ports, two atmospheres, one shared authenticity
Whether you choose the experience from Andratx with Bruno and Gori, or from Alcúdia with Jaume and Antonio, each excursion offers a rare and valuable immersion into the life of a fisherman in Mallorca. Forget mass tourism and experience the sea like a local, respecting the rhythm and traditions of seafarers.
